Oden Institute Encryption Policy Implementation

Sysnet will be encrypting all university owned laptops within Oden Institute using the tools made available by ITS. These tools include WinMagic SecureDoc and other encryption methods approved by the Information Security Office

Individuals will sign up for a specific date on which they will bring their laptop to Sysnet. We will then take the laptop, back up your data and then encrypt it. Because the encryption process takes some time, we must have the laptop in our office for 48 hours.

If the process takes less than 48 hours, we will notify you and you will be able to pick up your laptop earlier. When we return the encrypted laptop to you, Sysnet will have you sign a form acknowledging that the laptop is encrypted.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the laptop remains encrypted. In the event of a system failure, Sysnet will re-encrypt the device for you.
