[[The U.S. Association for Computational Mechanics awarded 2005 CSEM Alumnus Jessica Zhang the 2013 Gallagher Young Investigator Award “for pioneering research in high-fidelity geometric modeling and mesh generation with broad interdisciplinary finite element applications in computational biomedicine, material sciences and engineering.”
Zhang is now associate professor of mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. While a CSEM student Zhang’s supervising professor was Chandra Bajaj. Later, as an ICES postdoc, she worked with both Thomas Hughes and Bajaj. Read more.]]
The Gallagher Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments, particularly outstanding published papers, by researchers of 40 years or younger. The Gallagher medal and cash award are supported by John Wiley & Sons in recognition of Richard H. Gallagher, the founding editor of the International Journal of Numerical Methods in Engineering.
