CSEM Student Yerlan Amanbek received the best poster award at the 2017 Texas Applied Mathematics and Engineering Symposium.
Amanbek's poster represented the abstract and conceptual research in development category. His work addresses the need for accurate modeling of flow and transport in subsurface and its importance in petroleum reservoir recovery evaluations, nuclear waste disposal systems, CO2 sequestration, and groundwater remediation. His supervising professor is Mary Wheeler.
The two-day event was sponsored by the UT Austin Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
