IACM honors Schillinger

[[Dominik Schillinger, an ICES post-doctoral researcher, has won the international John Argyris Award for best paper by a young researcher in the field of Computational Mechanics. The annual award is given by the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM).

With ICES Professor Tom Hughes, Schillinger served on the IGSSE project team MAC B7 (High-End Toolbox for Simulation and Optimisation of Multi-Physics PDE Models) and published the paper "An Isogeometric Design-through-analysis Methodology based on Adaptive Hierarchical Refinement of NURBS, Immersed Boundary Methods, and T-spline CAD Surfaces" in the journal Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering. The award honors Professor John Argyris whose research contributed both to the field and to the international journal Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, of which he was a founding editor and editor-in-chief for 30 years.

Schillinger received the award during the 10th World Congress on Computational Mechanics in Sao Paulo, Brazil July 8-13.
