Dr. Shapiro received his A.B. from Harvard College in 1974 and his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1978.
His research interests include theoretical astrophysics: cosmology, galaxy formation, the interstellar medium, the intergalactic medium, interstellar dust grains and astrophysical hydrodynamics.
