Venkat Subramanian

Biography

Venkat is currently the Ernest Dashiell Cockrell II Professor of engineering in the department of mechanical engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. Before his current position, he was a WRF Professor in the department of chemical engineering at the University of Washington and he had a joint appointment as a Chief Scientist at PNNL. He was an elected technical editor for the Journal of the Electrochemical Society.

Venkat received his B.Tech. degree in chemical and electrochemical engineering from the Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi, India, in 1997 and his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, USA, in 2001. 

He is a cofounder and CTO of Battgenie (https://battgenie.life/) which is trying to commercialize model-based BMS algorithms for lithium-ion batteries.
