Postdoctoral Fellow Center for Scientific Machine Learning
William Rudman received his PhD in Computer Science from Brown University in 2025. His research focuses on interpretability in Large Language Models and Vision-Language Models, with particular emphasis on understanding how text and image modalities interact in downstream tasks. He develops methodologies to analyze and enhance the reasoning capabilities of vision–language models, characterizing their strengths and limitations and advancing techniques to improve to make vision-language models more robust.
As a postdoctoral researcher at the NSF-Simons AI Institute for Cosmic Origins (CosmicAI), he will create AI models for improved astronomical visualizations and explore how vision–language models can facilitate scientific discovery in astronomy.
