Professor (Retired) Chemistry
Ron Elber earned his Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, in 1984. He has been a chemistry professor of chemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago, chemistry and biology professor at the Hebrew University, and professor of computer science at Cornell University. He is now a chemistry professor at the University of Texas at Austin and the director of the Center for Computational Life Sciences and Biology at the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering & Sciences.
He has been a member of the Fritz Haber Institute of Molecular Dynamics and the Israel Center for Structural Biology. He has been the director of the NIH parallel computing center at Cornell Theory Center and was the co-director of Bridging the Rift Foundation, a collaborative program between Israel, Jordan, Stanford, and Cornell. He is currently directing the graduate program in molecular biophysics.
