Biography

Ashkan Ali Madadi is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin, where he works with Professors Thomas J. R. Hughes and Rui Huang in the Computational Mechanics Group. His research focuses on computational mechanics, with particular emphasis on immersed isogeometric analysis, stabilized mixed isogeometric formulations with discontinuous pressure spaces for incompressible problems, and hybrid Eulerian–Lagrangian computational methods for coupled multiphysics problems in soft materials. His broader research interests include nonlinear finite element methods, particle-based computational methods, large-deformation mechanics, computational modeling of coupled physical processes, and the study of mechanical instabilities in soft material systems.

He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, specializing in Computational Mechanics, from UT Austin in 2025. His doctoral research focused on multiphysics modeling of soft materials using the Material Point Method. Prior to his doctoral studies at UT Austin, he earned his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Civil Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Iran. His M.Sc. research focused on developing a coarse-grained–atomistic multiscale method to investigate the mechanical behavior of heterogeneous FCC nanomaterials.

Outside of research, he enjoys traveling, swimming, and spending time with friends.
